  • Grimes County Courthouse Improvements - Anderson TX
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) remodeled the Grimes County Courthouse in Anderson, Texas, in 1940. WPA crews installed a tile roof, cleaned and painted the building facade, installed tile floors, built outside stairs, plastered the interior walls, and landscaped the grounds.
  • Fire Station (former) - Mason TX
    The Works Progress Administration built a fire station in Mason, circa 1939. Rubble Masonry Building with brick trim. One large three truck room. 1 equipment room. 1 shower room. 2 rest rooms. Upstairs 4 rooms, 1 rest room. Building has a reinforced concrete foundation and concrete floors. This building is now Mason County Law Enforcement Center. It sits on the corner of the Mason County Courthouse lawn.
  • Lake Clark Dam - Ennis TX
    The works Progress Administration created Lake Clark by building an 1800-foot compacted earth filled dam on Little Mustang Creek west of Ennis, Texas. The project number was 65-1-66-165.
  • Storm Sewers - Luling TX
    The works Progress Administration manufactured 18", 24" amd 36" diameter reinforced concrete pipes on site, dug trenches and installed the pipes underground for a storm sewer system in Luling. The official project number was 665-66-1-161.
  • Post Office (former) Mural - Peabody MA
    The historic former post office building in Peabody, Massachusetts houses an example of New Deal artwork: "Old Bull Pen," which can be seen in the lobby. The work was commissioned by the Treasury Department's Section of Fine Arts, and completed by Waldo Peirce in 1940.
  • Milano School - Milano TX
    Under project number 665-66-2-153, the Works Progress Administration (renamed the Works Projects Administration by the time the project finished) built a new school in Milano, Texas between 1938 and 1940. The school had eleven classrooms and a combination auditorium and gymnasium. Per the Austin American Statesman: "Milam county received a WPA allotment of $43,098, and will match it with $38,578, employing 100 workers, to construct a new school building at Milano with 12 classrooms and gymnasium."
  • Water Supply - Livermore Falls ME

  • Rochelle School - Rochelle TX
    Rock and brick building labeled Rochelle ISD has a WPA plaque which reads, "Work Projects Administration 1938-1940." The adjacent rock building labeled "1935 Rochelle School Auditorium" looks typical of structures built by the WPA, but has no plaque attesting to WPA involvement. The rock wall around the school area does not have a marker.
  • Tule Canyon Road Construction - Silverton TX
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed a road from the base of Tule Canyon to the top, circa 1940. The WPA made cuts and fills through the canyon, graded the road and paved it with caliche. The length of road built is now part of Texas State Highway 207. The official project number was 65-1-66-400.
  • Ferris School (former) - Ferris TX
    The Works Progress Administration built the Ferris School between 1938 and 1940 under official project number 65-1-66-287. The brick building had 33 rooms. The former school is currently the Ferris Independent School District Administrative Services building.
