  • Delta County Courthouse - Cooper TX
    Starting in 1938, the Work Projects Administration (WPA) demolished the 1900 Delta County Courthouse in Cooper and built a new $110,450 four-story courthouse that was finished in 1940. The architect of record was Hoke Smith (1896-1943).

  • Tri-City Country Club Golf Course - Kennewick WA
    From 1938 to 1939, the WPA constructed the first nine holes of the Tri-City Country Club golf course. From the course website: "The original Twin City Golf Club was formed in 1938. Back then the city of Kennewick purchased the property known as Hover’s Fountain Park from the KID for $100 for the purpose of creating a golf course.   • Quail Ridge Golf Course - Baker City OR
    The WPA constructed the first nine holes of this golf course, also known as the Baker City Golf Club, in 1936. From the club website: "In 1936 the WPA started constructing the 9-hole public golf course off Indiana Avenue, in Baker City, Oregon.  It was replacing the 9 hole private City Golf and Country Club created in 1924 at the end of Washington Street.  The clubhouse then was the Fireside.  The new public course was to be known as the Municipal Golf Links."
  • J. Edward Good Park Golf Course Improvements - Akron OH
    WPA crews conducted improvements to this course from 1935 to 1936. From a 1936 story in Golfdom Magazine: "$75,000 is being spent through the WPA for remodeling fairways on the J. Edward Good Park Golf Club at Akron, Ohio."  
  • Seneca Golf Course - Broadview Heights OH
    WPA crews completed the first nine holes of the Seneca Golf Course in suburban Cleveland in 1940. From the website GolfNow.com: "Using WPA funds, the city of Cleveland opened Seneca Golf Course on August 1, 1940 to provide 'fine, low-cost, pay-as-you-play golfing' to westsiders. Only nine holes were opened with the purpose of gaining revenue to buy equipment to complete the other 27 holes the following year." In 2010, Course B at Seneca was closed; it is unclear whether this closure includes any WPA work.
  • Buffalo Hill Golf Club, Cameron Course - Kalispell MT
    The WPA constructed the 9-hole Cameron Course at what is now Buffalo Hill Golf Club. From the Buffalo Hill Golf Club website: "In the early 1930’s, land was purchased where part of the Cameron 9 holes now resides. The Cameron Course is named after Dave Cameron, who donated land to the city for golf course development. The original 9 hole course operated until the late 1930’s when the Works Progress Administration (WPA) built a nine hole, irrigated, green grass course; some holes are still in service today while others have been modified during subsequent expansions.”
  • Golf Course - Mahnomen MN
    The construction of Mahnomen Golf Course east of the town of Mahnomen was a WPA project from 1935 to 1936. The course is now part of Mahnomen County Country Club.

  • 16th Street Overpass - Hastings NE
    In September 1935, an enormous highway and grade crossing elimination program was approved by the state Public Works Administration (PWA) officials and was forwarded to Washington for final approval. The large number of projects would amount to a financial outlay of $3,614,500.00 in PWA funds, and an estimated $80,000.00 of the total would be spent on a grade separation at the intersection of Highway 281 and the Union Pacific tracks in Hastings.
