    The historic post office in Atlantic City, New Jersey was constructed with Public Works Administration (P.W.A.) funds in conjunction with the Treasury Department. The building, which was completed in 1937, housed New Deal artwork inside. Unfortunately, it has since been demolished.   • Post Office (demolished) - Cliffside Park NJ
    New Deal funds helped to construct a new post office for Cliffside Park in 1935. However, the building is no longer extant; postal operations moved to a new facility during the late 1990s and the building was demolished in the 2000s. The location of the old post office's “Rural Delivery,” a 1938 plaster relief by Bruno Neri is presently unknown to Living New Deal.
  • Post Office (demolished) - Effingham IL
    The federal government financed the construction of a post office at the northwest corner of Fourth Street and Section Avenue in Effingham, Illinois during the Great Depression. Constructed at a cost of $79,800, the building bore a 1934 cornerstone and "opened to the public July 16, 1935." The building ceased serving as a post office in the fall of 1966, as the Post Office Department needed a larger space to conduct processing operations consistent with a sectional center at that time. The government was granted by the federal government to Unit 40 and the remodeled building became a kindergarten in 1967....

    The historic post office building in Fairport, New York was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which was completed in 1938, housed a example of New Deal artwork inside. Living New Deal believes the facility to have been located at S. Main St. and Church St., and that the building has been demolished.
  • Post Office (demolished) - Glastonbury CT
    The U.S. Treasury Department provided the funds for the construction of a new post office at the northeast corner of Main St. and Hebron Ave. The building was completed in 1937 but has since been demolished.
  • Post Office (demolished) - Redondo Beach CA
    A post office was built for Redondo Beach, California, in 1935 with Treasury Department funds. According to the December 13, 1935 Redondo Reflex, the Post Office was dedicated on December 7, 1935. The New Deal post office, located at 201 South Catalina Avenue, has since been demolished as part of the 'urban renewal' of the old town of Redondo Beach in the late 1960s. New Deal artworks created for the facility were moved to the current post office.

    The federal Treasury Department funded the construction of a post office building in Union City, Pennsylvania at 11 E. High Street, ca. 1938. While the building has since been demolished a relief sculpture created for the lobby has been relocated to the 'new' post office in Union City.

    White Bear Lake was home to a historic post office building with New Deal connections. The building was likely completed in 1939 or 1940. No longer extant, in its place is a bank building at 2151 3rd Street.

    The historic former post office in Bristol, Connecticut was originally constructed during the early 20th century. An extension was added to the building as part of a New Deal project, which was completed in 1937 with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which was located on the west side of Main Street at Riverside Avenue, has since been demolished.

    The historic former post office in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds ca. 1940. The building, which housed an example of New Deal artwork, was destroyed by a natural gas explosion in 1979.

    The historic former post office in Sylvester, Georgia was constructed with Treasury Department funds in 1937. An example of New Deal artwork created for the facility was relocated to the community's current post office. The former post office is now a civic / Chamber of Commerce facility.

    The historic former post office building in Adel, Georgia was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds ca. 1939. The building now serves as the Cook County Historical Society Museum. A New Deal mural, which had been created and housed in the historic post office, has since been relocated to its current location.

    Now privately owned, Alamosa, Colorado received a new post office during the Great Depression. The building was commissioned by the federal Treasury Department in conjunction with the Public Works Administration.     The historic former post office building in Alice, Texas was constructed in 1937 with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, located at the southwest corner of E. 1st St. and N. Wright St., is now privately owned.
  • Post Office (former) - Alpine TX
    The historic former post office building in Alpine, Texas was constructed in 1937 with federal Treasury Department funds. According to a plaque the building served as Alpine's post office "from June 24, 1938 to September 2000. In 1998, with the help of Congressman Henry Bonilla, Brewster County was able to acquire the building. After renovation by the County, the building was rededicated to public use on July 4, 2002." The building houses an example of New Deal artwork.

    From Flickr user Courthouselover in 2012: "Built in 1940, this former post office today acts as the Alvin Historical Museum. The old mural that once hung in this post office's lobby today is rolled up in storage awaiting restoration." Since then, the mural has been restored, thanks to the efforts of former Texas Rangers pitcher Nolan Ryan and his wife Ruth. It now hangs in the museum.

    The historic former post office in Batesburg(, Batesburg-Leesville), South Carolina was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds in 1939. The building houses an example of New Deal artwork. In the 1980s, the cities of Batesburg & Leesville combined into one city and a new post office was constructed. As of 2013, the old New Deal Batesburg post office had been sold and left vacant by its new owners.

    This former post office building was constructed by the Treasury Department in 1940. The one-story brick building has a basement. Wright (2003) described the building, "...a copper visor over the front entrance...recessed windows...decorative dentil work around the top perimeter and between recessed window openings...iron railing on front facade." This building is now used as a private law office. This post office originally contained the mural "Cotton Plantation" by Eve Kottgen, completed in 1942. The current location of the mural is on the work floor of the new post office building where it is not visible to the public.

    The Colonial Revival-style post office building in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi was constructed by Dye and Mullings on behalf of the federal Treasury Department. It is now privately owned.

    Constructed by the Treasury in 1934, this building has recently been renovated and converted into private offices for the law firm Doty & Miller: "Shifting their design efforts to preservation, Doty & Miller consulted blueprints obtained from the Bedford Historical Society so they could re-create the original lobby features and restore the exterior to its 1934 appearance.     The historic New Deal post office building in Bethesda MD – sometimes misattributed to the Works Progress Administration (WPA) – was constructed with Treasury Department funds in 1937. The Neo-Georgian building was constructed out of native stone trucked in from Stoneyhurst Quarries on River Road... (www.bethesdamagazine.com) The post office remained in use until 2012, when "faced with mounting financial difficulties, the USPS  closed it in 2012 and sold it for $4 million to the Donohoe Companies." The New Deal mural from the post office has been restored and was relocated to Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center in 2013.

    The Transylvania County Administration building at 101 South Broad Street in Brevard, North Carolina was originally constructed as a New Deal post office. The post office was one of several similar Federal/Greek Revival-style facilities in western North Carolina.   • Post Office (former) - Brownsville TN
    The one-story brick Colonial Revival building has four original 32-light display windows, original paired eight-light wood and glass doors, with wooden surround and broken pediment over the door . The building has a brick parapet, stone cornice with ornamentation, and stone window lintels. Sometime between the 1960s and 1980s (records differ), a new post office was built and the facility was sold and converted to a furniture store.

    The historic post office building in Burlingame, California was constructed during the early 1940s with federal funds. The building was sold to private interests in September 2014 and ceased its postal operations in January 2015. Part of the building and its artwork have been incorporated into a new adaptive reuse project.

    The historic former post office building in Campbell, Ohio was constructed ca. 1939 with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which housed an example of New Deal artwork, is privately owned. Unfortunately, much of the concrete details on the building's front, including the cornerstone, has been stripped off. Google Street View imagery of the building from 2011 shows that the cornerstone has been abused, and that the text has been largely destroyed. Fortunately, the New Deal mural had been removed from the facility into Campbell's 'new' post office.
