Walnut and is an active elementary school today. It has an Art Deco theme, which was rare for the architect Albert S. Ross. Contributor note: "The Walker School and Gymnasium is located on County Road 1570 (Longmeier Lake Road), east of Pauls Valley. This is an 8-room school which is in ruins and no longer in use. The school is L-shaped, with the gymnasium forming a U-shape. It is 169 feet across the front and 83 ft. down each side. The school was a WPA project in 1939.   • 8th Street Culvert - Gotebo OK
    The Works Progress Administration built a culvert at the intersection of 8th Street and Maud Linnie Avenue in Gotebo, OK. Contributor note: "This culvert is located in a residential area and crosses 8th Street east to west. The culvert is concrete and the opening is about 2 ft. high and 4 ft. wide. On each curb there is a WPA shield pressed into the concrete reading WPA 1938. The culvert is partially blocked by concrete blocks at each end, and does not look like it would function properly."
  • Bartow Civic Recreation Center and Pool (former) - Bartow FL
    The Bartow Civic Recreation Center and pool were built ca. 1933-1935.  Records suggest the project was started by workers in the Civil Works Administration (CWA) and completed by workers in the Work Division of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). Around 1969-1973, the recreation center became the Oaks School.  In 2005, the Oaks School closed, and the current use of the building is unknown.  The pool no longer exists.  (A new civic center was built in 1967, on Floral Avenue.)     In 1937-38, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) improved and paved the old dirt Redwood Canyon Road as part of the New Deal's contribution to the newly-created East Bay Regional Parks (EBRPD).  Today, it is known simply as Redwood Road. The road descends from Skyline Boulevard (also built by the WPA) to the entrance of Redwood Regional Park in the canyon below. Skyline, in turn, runs north to link up with Sibley, Temescal and Tilden Parks, the rest of the original four parks in the EBRPD system.     The Tilden Park Botanical Garden for California native plants was built by the East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD) with the aid of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1940-42. The garden was the brainchild of Professor Howard McMinn of Mills College, in 1938.  He knew of an extensive collection of California native plants at the US Forest Service's California Forest and Range Experiment Station in Berkeley, which had been assembled with the help of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) teams gathering seeds.     The Works Progress Administration built a highway culvert in Gotebo, OK. Contributor note: "This culvert crosses Highway 9 in front of the Gotebo Post Office.  This is a concrete culvert which runs north-south across Highway 9, just west of Highway 54. The opening is about 4 ft. wide and 2 ft. deep, and the date 1938 is shown on the WPA stamp on the curbing."
  • School Auditorium and Gymnasium - Gotebo OK
    The Works Progress Administration built a school auditorium and gymnasium in Gotebo OK in 1937. Contributor note: "This building is located on the west side of 10th Street, two blocks south of Pennsylvania in the northwest part of town. The Gotebo schools closed in the 1990s and consolidated with the town of Mountain View. There is a large school north of this gymnasium that stands empty. On the north side of this WPA building is a concrete block addition which currently houses the Senior Citizens, and it is possible that this auditorium is occasionally used for community events.
