The Terminal Annex Federal Building contains two oil on canvas murals by Peter Hurd: "Pioneer Home Builders" and “Airmail Over Texas.” They were painted in 1940-1941 with funding from the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. Rosewood Playground in Bronx Park near Rosewood Street and Bronx Park East, was a WPA project, like so many of New York's parks. Construction began in 1940 and was completed in 1941. The WPA constructed 91 schools in North Carolina. The former (and now privately owned) elementary school in the southwest N.C. town of Otto was one such school; it opened in 1941.

The Norfolk Botanical Garden is a 155 acre garden with 12 miles of paved trails and 65,000 plants. It receives about 300,000 visitors every year. Among the many interesting things at the Garden are tram tours, boat tours, a library, and a Children’s Adventure Garden. In January 1941, the National Youth Administration began building a bathhouse with dressing and toilet facilities at Zaragoza Park as well as a chain-linked fence around the pool that was connected to the bathhouse. The City of Austin furnished materials for the project and the NYA supplied the labor.

Lincoln Park, one of Chicago’s largest and oldest parks, is a prime example of the city’s commitment to conserving and protecting this valuable lakefront property for public use. The park currently stretches from the Ohio Street Beach in Streeterville, just north of Navy Pier, north to Ardmore Avenue in Edgewater. Men of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) worked from 1934 to 1941 on the Arboretum of University of Wisconsin Madison, providing the majority of the labor needed to establish the ecological communities that make up the Arboretum. This was accomplished by excavating and moving land to return farmland to it’s natural condition as well as reintroducing native plants. Brockton, Massachusetts received a large rotunda mural commissioned by the WPA. Entitled "A History of Books and Printing," the "murals were painted as a WPA project in 1940-41 by Fritz Fuglister and carefully restored in 2003 by artist/restorer John Arapoff as part of a complete renovation and expansion." The artist-painted description (pictured here): "Showing Ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Greek methods; the works of the early Europeans and Persians; the period of transition, with Gutenburg the inventor of printing with movable type; early English and American formats; the development of the machine, the Lineotype, the Camera and the Press."

A 1941 Section of Fine Arts-funded tempera painting titled "Anthracite Coal" was painted by George Harding and hangs in the post office lobby.
