  • Daniel Webster Elementary School Improvements - Pasadena CA
    1 of 27 schools in the Pasadena CA school system that the New Deal, whether the WPA or PWA, was involved in reconstructing, demolishing, or reinforcing after the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. Was built in 1926 in a Gothic style of architecture. Damaged slightly by the earthquake. October 31, 1935 WPA did reinforcement work to get the building up to standards.
  • John Adams Middle School - Santa Monica CA
    In 1935, the Works Project Administration (WPA) completed construction of a new Streamline Moderne–style campus for John Adams Junior High School (today's John Adams Middle School) in Santa Monica, CA. The original 1913 John Adams campus at Los Amigos Park was one of four Santa Monica schools demolished after suffering severe damage in the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. System-wide renovations cost $3 million dollars.
  • Post Office (former) - Houma LA
    The old post office building at 7861 Main Street in Houma, LA was constructed in 1934-5 and served until the completion of the Allen J. Ellender Federal Building. Having functioned as "The Old Post Office Club," a nightclub, during the 2000s, the building is privately owned. In 2014 it served no discernible public purpose.

    This WPA sculpture "Bear and Head" by Beniamino Bufano was created in 1935 and placed here in 1945. It measures 5'4" long and 3' wide, and is carved from black granite.

    "The school Gymnasium at Agawam (pronounced by the locals "Egg'-Wom", is a rectangular building constructed of red brick by the WPA in 1935. Trees and ground cover have grown up around the building and it is very difficult to approach or photograph. For several years recently, the building was used by an antiques and collectables business, Agawam Mercantile. The gym is located on Highway 81, just south of CR 1470.     "City Park is located on S.E. 1st Street, between E. Broadway and E. Catalpa. This is a long, narrow park, with a creek running through it. At the south end of the park is a lovely wood gazebo and a covered bridge. Playground equipment and a pavilion draw residents to the park for community activities. At the north end of the park, a low, native sandstone wall has been constructed on the west, north and east sides of the park.   • Kennedy Department of Justice Building: Jennewein Sculptural Elements - Washington DC
    While the overall  design of the Department of Justice building conforms with the dominant Neoclassical theme of the Federal Triangle, it is distinguished by Art Deco architectural elements and the use of aluminum details.  The entrances feature 20-foot-high aluminum doors and interior stair railings, grilles, and trim are done in cast aluminum. Sculptor C.     "Project #1 B4 662 Lincoln School La Verne Opened Nov 27, 34 Closed March 20, 35 Attached pictures are views taken at Lincoln School, and are typical of the various school jobs accomplished under this project." 5 photos depict landscaping around the front of the building, playground equipment, a "chandelier made by L.A.C.R.A. (Los Angeles County Relief Agency) for the Music room.", and electrical light fixtures in the auditorium made by the same man who made the chandelier Lincoln school is now know as J. Marion Roynon Elementary School. The school depicted in the WPA photos was replaced in the 1950's.
