  • Sewage Disposal Plant - Hartington NE
    In February 1935, the Hartington city council passed an ordinance to issue $16,000.00 in bonds to pay its share of the cost of the city sewage disposal plant which was completed in the fall of 1934 by the PWA. The bonds, carrying four percent interest and running for twenty years, were used to take up city warrants to pay for the plant. The PWA's share of the cost amounted to about $4,000.00, and completed the retirement of the warrants. The total cost of the sewage plant was $19,047.15, of which the PWA paid thirty percent.   • Municipal Building - Wauneta NE
    In late 1934, Wauneta had a substantial fund saved from the earnings of its municipal water system. Plans were drawn by a local architect for a building measuring fifty feet by twenty-five feet to provide space for the municipal offices, library, fire department and jail. The building was designed to allow a later addition of a second story for an auditorium. In the middle of January, 1935, a small crew of relief laborers started razing the old fire hall and pump house.     The Camden post office contains a 1938 Treasury Section of Fine Arts mural by John H. Fyfe entitled "Mail Delivery to Tranquility - The first post office in Benton County."
