James Madison University’s Cleveland Hall, originally known as Junior Hall, was constructed with the assistance of federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds. The PWA supplied a $83,000 grant and $55,632 loan for the project, whose total cost was $124,352. Construction occurred between Nov. 1935 and Oct. 1936.
