From 1934-1936 the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed North Lake Park, including Lake Garnett.
“The project included a 48-acre (840 acre-feet) man-made lake with dam and spillway, a road, and the planting of over 300 cedar trees, lilac bushes, rose bushes and shrubs.”
Other construction included roads, plantings, two shelter houses, restrooms, a football stadium, and a swimming pool.
