The slate covered gable roof is topped by a square, flat-topped cupola with Doric order pilasters."

Simon. The building is in the Colonial Revival style and features a central pavilion crowned by a cupola and flanked by end pavilions with gable roofs. The interior once featured a mural by Symeon Shimin, but it was removed and has disappeared. An addition to the north was added in 1964."

It was constructed in 1940, the last of the five post offices built between 1931-1940 by the Columbia & Hattiesburg firm of Dye & Mulling. It contains a mural by Lucile Blanch, "Rural Mississippi--From Early Days to Present" that was completed in 1941.
