- Municipal Auditorium/City Armory/Gymnasium - McComb MSMcComb's municipal auditorium/city armory/gymnasium on Virginia Avenue served as the armory for Company L, 155th infantry from 1938-1940 (MDAH/Historic Resources Inventory). Constructed by the Work Progress Administration between 1936-1938, the facility was destroyed by fire in 1952. Work on the field house was begun in July 1936, and within a few weeks, the gymnasium and armory components were added. Work was suspended December 1936 when the facility was 30% complete. - Stuart City Park and Community House - Stuart City FLThe Works Progress Administration built the Stuart City Park and Community House in Stuart City FL, Martin County. The City was a cosponsor. The community house housed public gatherings and also served as a hurricane shelter. The location and status of these projects is presently unknown to Living New Deal.
- City Park and Amphitheater - Memphis TXThe Works Progress Administration built a city park and amphitheater in Memphis TX. The amphitheater has seating for around 2000 people and excellent acoustics. The semi-circular concrete stand is perfectly paced to fit the contours of a high bluff it faces and serves equally well for singing events, plays, band concerts, and other entertainments. Picnic facilities included in the park project converted a tree lined park into a popular recreation center.
- Jefferson County Courthouse - Mt. Vernon ILThe Jefferson County courthouse in Mt. Vernon IL was built with funds from the Public Works Administration (PWA) in 1939. It is a three-story concrete structure in Moderne or Art Deco style, designed by architect William R. McCoy, who was quite active in central Illinois at the time. It is one of six New Deal county courthouses in Illinois (Weiser 2009). Unfortunately, Weiser, Wikipedia and other sources make the common mistake of confusing the PWA with the Works Progress Administration (WPA). - Collinsville Consolidated School (former) - Collinsville MSCollinsville school was Public Works Administration project w1106. Constructed with a $10,000 loan and $8,181 grant, the project was approved 10/24/1936. Construction began 1/11/1937 and was completed 6/12/1937. In a 1999 interview with Collinsville resident Malcolm Moore, Moore reported "CCC boys built the brick school building that stands today" (Harrison, p. 152). The building is in use today as a private industry following further consolidation and close of the school in the 1960s.
- School - Lake MSThe Public Works Administration project w1259 funded $7,363 of the cost of the Lake school. The project was approved 8/12/1937, construction begun 12/16/1937, and completed 12/15/1938. The building was a 1-story brick complex.
- TX-19 Roadside Park - Sulphur Springs TXRoadside park with two picnic tables and barbecue pits. In addition to the original rock barbecue pits, there are new metals pits near the picnic tables.
