The Federal Emergency Relief Administration and the Civil Works Administration carried out “repairs and renewals” work at the George Washington School (renamed Evelyn Marcelli Elementary School, closed in 2012) on St. Thomas.

The Federal Emergency Relief Administration and the Civil Works Administration carried out “repairs and renewals" work at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School (now J. Antonio Jarvis School) on St. Thomas.

Sometimes misattributed to the WPA, early development of this, the first university-owned airport in the country, was undertaken by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). FERA also built a hangar for the airport.

The Civil Works Administration carried out repair work at King’s Hill Village (a subsistence housing development). The repair work included multiple buildings.

The Civil Works Administration carried out improvements work on Bog-of-Allen Road, to make the road passable for vehicular traffic.

The Public Works Administration (PWA) carried out improvement work on Long Road in Frederiksted on St. Croix. The work consisted of the asphalting of a 1 and ½ miles segment of road.

Only 1933 and 1934 town reports were available, but even so, quite a lot of useful work was accomplished by CWA and FERA on unemployment relief. 1933: City Planning Board "In December a C W A project was started at the Park, Kirby Lake, and on our city trees. At the Park many changes and improvements have been made under this project. Only 1933 and 1934 town reports were available, but a significant amount of relief work was documented during the dark days of the depression. 1933: On Dec. 1st C. W. A. projects absorbed a part of the unemployment relief men, and continued with a quota of 147 until March, when weekly reductions were put into effect by the Federal Government. The severe winter handicapped these operations to a great extent, but what was accomplished was at comparatively small cost, for material on some projects. The 1934 town report noted that "Sanitary sewers were constructed with E. R. A. labor the full length of Harbor and Bell Streets, on Union between Harbor and Bell and on Bay View from Harbor to Allyn."

The 1933 town report mention a C. W. A. Project for the town library, a beautiful classic brick structure built in 1888. "The assistance for approximately twelve weeks of Miss Frances Busse and Miss Doris McMahan made it possible to accomplish some necessary work for which outside aid has been needed for some time.
