The New Deal and Racism

People today are calling for a reckoning with the dark side of America’s past.  In that spirit, we have created this section about the New Deal and race. The failures of the Roosevelt Administration to in confronting racism were many, but blanket condemnation of the New Deal as racist or exclusionary is wrong.  Indeed, many of its programs did a great deal of good for America’s racialized and disadvantaged people.
