The building was razed in 1937 when the County received Works Progress Administration funds to build a new court house and a new junior high school.

The federal government supplied $123,340 while the Town of Brookhaven contributed $50,975 toward the project, which featured similar work performed in neighboring Patchogue.
  • Municipal Sidewalks - Selden NY
    In July 1937 the WPA embarked on two large sidewalk projects within the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County. One project involved the construction of a "four-foot wide concrete sidewalk along the north side of" Middle Country Road, "from the Brookhaven-Smithtown line eastward to the east line of the Coram school district, a total of 8.06 miles." The project, which cost a total of $95,425, was sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven ($30,540) and the WPA ($64,885).

    “KINNELON – Notification has been given the Kinnelon Borough Council that the Works Progress Administration has approved the first project for the Borough with Federal funds.   • Terrebonne Parish Courthouse - Houma LA
    The Terrebonne Parish Courthouse in Houma, LA was one of 11 in the state attributable to the PWA. KnowLA writes that the parishes that received new courthouses are: Caldwell, Cameron, East Carroll, Iberia, Jackson, Madison, Natchitoches, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. Landry, and Terrebonne. As of 2014 each of the courthouses is in active use. A supplemental courthouse has been constructed opposite School Street to the 1937 building.   • Clark Avenue Railroad Underpass - Las Vegas NV
    Las Vegas's Sun reported in 2004: "The underpass, the first structure of its type in Nevada to be listed in the , was built in 1937 by the Depression-era Works Project Administration. Preservationists say it's important because it brought what is now West Las Vegas together with the rest of the city. The city used to be split by the rail line, which was then elevated. The underpass was one of 78,000 bridges constructed under the Works Progress Administration. The original structure has already been altered due to the widening of Bonanza Road, which was Clark Avenue until the 1940s."
