Description

The Works Progress Administration built the City Hall in Converse IN.

It was built in 1937 with $32,000 (80%) of the cost funded by PWA according to the NRHP Registration Form. “[…] the building cost $40,000; the town sold an $8,000 bond issue to cover their portion and the PWA supplied $32,000 for labor and materials”

Newspaper item about opening the new facility gives a cost of $50,000 but does not mention either federal agency. (Indianapolis Times, December 16, 1938, page 1, col 1).
