Description
The Bonny Eagle bridge crosses the Saco River inbetween Standish and Hollis Maine on route 35. Formerly a classic New England wooden covered bridge, it was destroyed in the horrific flood of 1936 which heavily damaged more than a hundred bridges across the state. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was the main agency providing the labor for the rebuilding. The WPA bridge has since been replaced by a newer bridge.
