Description
The three-story brick dormitory was named in honor of Miss Jessie A Sayers, who was a member of the original faculty of Southwest Texas State Normal School, as the university was first named. Under influence from alumnus Congressman Lyndon B. Johnson, the Public Works Administration provided a loan of $98,000 and a grant of $28,000 to fund the construction of the dormitory.
The University demolished Sayers Hall and the Academic Services Building now stands in its place. The University also constructed a new residence hall that opened in 2014 and named it Sayers Hall.
