Description
The grade separation underpass that brings Silver Street under what is now Rail Street in Negaunee MI was constructed as a joint federal-state project in 1936. Construction was undertaken as part of a federal Grade Crossing Project.
The plaque on site states that the project was part of the U.S. Works Program, but that seems to be a mistake. It was likely paid for either by the Public Works Administration (PWA) or Bureau of Public Roads (BPR).
