Description
This steel and concrete bridge, crossing the Truckee River in downtown Reno, Nevada, was completed in 1937 by the Public Works Administration (PWA).

“Two Important bridge projects constitute the major construction items which will be carried out by the City of Reno, NV during 1937. The two structures will provide two additional crossings for important streets over the Truckee River, which runs through the municipality.
Both structures will consist of reinforced concrete girders in three spans totaling about 160′. The roadway width provided will be 44 feet with 8 feet sidewalks on each side. The bridges proper will be constructed by the Nevada Highway Department, and the approaches will be built by the City of Reno. Financing includes $205,500 in general improvement bonds voted by the city last August, a PWA grant of $31,817, and 96,000 from the State Highway Department. Rights of way have been secured and construction i scheduled to start this month.
The bridges and approaches were designed by the highway department, under the direction of Robert A. Allen, state highway engineer, George Egan is bridge engineer. The city engineer’s office of Reno Cooperated in this work.”
