View Project in a Separate Window
Description
The former U.S. Inspection Station at the Canadian border north of Raymond, Montana (along Route 16) was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds during the 1930s. A completion photograph of the facility taken Aug. 5, 1937 resides in the National Archives.
While the operations have been replaced by a newer facility closer to the border, Google Street View and satellite imagery suggest that the original New Deal structure, as of 2014, still stands.
