    In 1933, a troop of men from the Civilian Conservation Corps troop V-1668, made up of veterans, started building what would become the Fullersburg Forest Preserve. The men built a caretakers cottage (Old Water Mill), a boathouse, bridges, and picnic shelters at the site. They also renovated a mill located at the site. The work in the park was largely finished by 1936 (Du Page Clerk), and by 1937 the historic Graue Mill, originally built in 1852, was functioning as an educational facility for the community (Sweet).     This Public Works Administration (PWA) funded building was originally the Dental College for the University of Illinois at Chicago. It was PWA project #1057. Construction of the Dental Building began in 1935 when the project was proposed and backed by the PWA under Illinois director Carl H. Bauer. The Public Works Administration funded the project with a grant of $366,000 and a 20 year loan of $1,091,000. The University Foundation directed by Glen M. Hobbs awarded the contract to the J.W.   • Provincetown Cemetery Improvements - Provincetown MA
    The Provincetown Advocate reported in 1937: "Work on the Provincetown cemetery is being resumed after a shutdown since last spring. Harry W. Jordan, WPA foreman, reports that 12 men started work last Saturday on a project to fill in and enlarge the Protestant cemetery. Also an addition of 150 feet is being made to the cemetery along its entire width. Working days of the WPA crew will be Monday, Wednesday and Saturday."
  • Westenfield Park Improvements - Austin TX
    Westenfield Corporation initially developed Westenfield Park in 1932, and the City of Austin operated the swimming pool that year. The City of Austin acquired the park in 1937. The Austin Recreation Department worked with the National Youth Administration in the same year to build the original playground and do work on the swimming pool. The swimming pool was replaced in 2013-2014 due to cracks, leaks and plumbing problems in the 80-year old pool. The playground equipment has also been updated.
