Suffolk County News reported that between 1935 and 1936, the WPA "improved recreational facilities in following State Parks : Sunken Meadow, Heckscher, Wildwood, Orient Point and Hither Hills..."

The Suffolk County News reported that the WPA engaged in "repairs and painting (interior and exterior) of Central Islip and Kings Park State Hospitals" between 1935 and 1936.

What is now-Earl L. Vandermeulen High School was improved by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) between 1935 and 1936. According to the Suffolk County News, these improvements included "concrete walks, pavement, and drains on grounds of Port Jefferson High School and athletic field."

Two Works Progress Administration concrete pedestrian bridges built over the Arroyo Seco flood control channel in the Brookside Golf Course next to the Rose Bowl.

"Justice Tempered with Mercy (Uphold the Right, Prevent the Wrong)" by Emil Bisttram was originally installed in the courthouse at Roswell, NM. It was painted with Treasury Relief Art Project funds in 1936 and moved to its present location in 1983. "Cooperation" and "Strife" are two smaller (3' x 3') murals that flank "Justice Tempered With Mercy" to form a triptych.  

"The Pueblo Rebellion of 1680" was painted by Loren Mozley in 1936 with Federal Art Project funds and restored in 1996.  

Stinson Field was established by the Stinson family at this location in 1916. The family were accomplished aviators and had been running a flying school at nearby Fort Sam Houston prior to leasing this 500 acre plot of land from the city of San Antonio. The field was the training sight of many military aviators before, during and after World War I. Charles Lindberg kept an airplane at the field while he was stationed at Brooks Field. Big Timber Pioneer reported in 1936 that a CCC camp at what was then known as "Morrison Cave" built "a road to the mouth of the cave" and conducted "exploratory work inside of the cavern." The CCC did much of the work to make the cave system accessible to visitors.
