    The Works Progress Administration built a school Gymnasium in Elmore City, OK. Contributor comments: "This gymnasium is located on N. Muse Avenue, on the north side of the Elmore City High School campus. It was built in 1938-1939. Much of the work had already been completed, before the WPA handled the completion of the construction. The gymnasium is a one-story red brick building with gabled roof. Entrances on the west and south are recessed under an arched opening. The windows are covered with wood boards, but the building is still in use by the school as a training room."

    The Works Progress Administration built the McCarty School in the vicinity of Elmore City, OK. Contributor note: "The McCarty School was built to educate children in the rural area northeast of Elmore City. This two-room school is located in an area known as McCarty, although there is no town per se. When built in 1939, it was the only building in the area. It stands on the northwest corner of the intersection of County Roads 1620E and 3190N, about six miles northeast of Elmore City. This is a one-story, two-classroom school with a gabled roof. The building appears to be vacant at this time....

    The Works Progress Administration built a rural school, called the Satterwhite School, for the area south of Elmore City. Contributor note: "Satterwhite is an area about four miles south of Elmore City. There is no actual town, and only a few local residents. The Satterwhite School is located on Highway 74 at the intersection of CR 1690. This is a four classroom school currently occupied as a residence. The school is constructed of rusticated and coursed native sandstone and has a hipped roof. Entrances on the front and sides are recessed under arched openings.     The Works Progress Administration built a vocational education building in Elmore City, OK. Contributor note: "This is a rectangular one-story building constructed of rusticated native sandstone, which is painted a brick color. The roof is gabled. The south entrance is recessed under a wood porch. The window units which extend to the eaves have been partially filled with wood siding, leaving a fixed window pane. Windows on the north side of the building have been covered with wood siding. The building is currently occupied by the Billy Joan English Library"
