  • Oakdale Irrigation District Improvements - Oakdale CA
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) made important improvements to the facilities of the Oakdale Irrigation District (OID) in 1940-41.  The work was done in two separate projects and consisted of upgrading irrigation canals and their gates, valves and pumps. The OID was formed in 1909 for the purpose of delivering irrigation water to over 80,000 acres of agricultural lands in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.   • Post Office (former) - Hearne TX
    According to the 1941 Hearne Democrat, the post office is located at 3rd and Magnolia Streets. The contract  was awarded to Leslie F. Crockett Construction Co. in January of 1941 for $50,877. The building was designed in Spanish Revival style. The structure is buff stucco with a corner entrance and a canopy covering the walk on both sides. The building has tiled floor and the wainscoat of tile with white oak panels to 7 ft height and buff colored plaster walls.     The Works Progress Administration built a new City Hall for Hearne in 1941. The former Hearne City Hall is located on the corner of 3rd and Cedar Streets. Built of native rock with white trim the building houses the city hall, fire station, and city council chamber. The council chamber was furnished with mahogany seats for those who wished to attend the meetings. The building was equipped with fluorescent lighting.   • City Park - Hearne TX
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built park facilities in the Hearne City Park. The WPA contributed $44,000 for materials and labor, and the City of Hearne spent 22,000. First unit of the park completed was the swimming pool and bath house. (Bath house has the only WPA plaque). Also constructed was a rock entrance, a clubhouse, picnic tables and barbecue pits.   • City Hall and Auditorium - Karnes City TX
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built the Karnes City City Hall and Auditorium between 1938-1941. The one-story, brick building was designed in Art Deco Style typical of that era and WPA-built structures. The City Hall is at the front, and the auditorium is behind it, featuring an entrance flanked by columns. The City Hall entrance is covered with an awning above which is a "City Hall" hall sign built out of metal. The top plaque reads: Work Projects Administration 1938-1940.   • Cleora Public School - Cleora OK
    Excerpt from okhistory.org Delaware WPA Properties 1985: "This essentially "L" shaped structure (188' x 156 on the exterior sides) is constructed of rusticated and random laid limestone. It has a flat roof and parapets capped with concrete. Recessed entryways have paired doors with transcoms framed by poured concrete columns with entablature and squared cornices. The large wood sash windows are framed by pilasters and have continuous concrete sills and lintels. Continous friezes above and below the windows and curved corners give this building an art deco appearance."
  • Prairie Hill School (demolished) - Prairie Hill TX
    The Work Projects Administration constructed a new school for Prairie Hill, Texas and improved the grounds after their school burned in 1939. Work started in 1940 and was completed in 1941. The school was consolidated with the Coolidge School district fall of 1962. A map from 1957 suggests that the facility was located on the north side of Farm-to-Market Road 73, east of its intersection with U.S. 84, and that the facility is no longer extant.
  • CCC Camp Company 3822(V) - Goliad TX
    In May 1935, The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began building housing and auxiliary structures in Goliad for CCC Company 3822(V), a military veterans unit. Built on land that belonged jointly to the city and the county, the camp consisted of forty cottage-style barracks, each to house six men, and nine larger buildings that included a wood shop and metal shop. The camp opened in August 1935, and housed former military enrollees veterans of the Spanish American War, the Boxer Rebellion in China, and World War I.   • George C. Davis Site Archaeological Excavation - Alto TX
    For two years, the Works Progress Administration (WPA), under the leadership of University of Texas at Austin archaeologists, excavated an area known as the George C. Davis Site (41CE19). The site yielded artifacts from the Caddoan Mississippian culture that existed there from 800 A.D. to 1300 A.D. The archaeologists also found artifacts from the Spanish colonial era in Texas (1690-1821 A.D.) as the site was along the El Camino Real de los Tejas.   • Livermore Falls School (former) Improvements - Livermore Falls ME
    Several New Deal Agencies performed improvement work for the Livermore Falls School in Livermore Falls, between 1933 and 1940. The school was replaced in 1968 and abandoned in 2011 when Jay and Livermore Falls consolidated their school systems. 1933 "The CWA program which was started early this winter presented an opportunity to get some work done on the High School grounds.
