- Central Elementary School - Franklin PAOriginally constructed as a junior high school, what is now Central Elementary School in Franklin, Pennsylvania—a gorgeous structure bearing Art Deco motifs—was constructed as a federal Public Works Administration (PWA) project. The PWA supplied a $116,182 grant for the project, whose total cost was $258,556. The allotment was approved in November 1935. Construction started in March 1936 and was finished Jun. 1937. - Post Office Bas Relief - Marion VAThe plaster bas relief entitled "The Letter" was commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. The work was created in 1937 for the New Deal post office in Marion, Virginia, which is now privately owned. The relief has since been relocated to the current post office.
- Siskiyou Crest Route (Forest Road 20) - Ashland ORDuring the summers of 1936 and 1937, enrollees from Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Applegate constructed a forest service road along the Siskiyou Crest linking the Beaver Creek area of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest with the Mount Ashland area. The approximately forty miles of road opened up the high forestlands of the eastern Siskiyous for management purposes and increased recreational use of this mountainous area. Although portions of Forest Road 20 on both the eastern and western sides are paved today, the majority of it remains unpaved and much of it is single lane as it was when constructed....
- Sewing & Canning Projects (former) - Santa Monica CAIn November 1933, a local relief sewing project was transferred to Civil Works Administration (CWA) oversight and set up in an old organ factory in Santa Monica, CA. By the following month, 450 local women were employed in canning and sewing work. The women worked alongside 50 disabled male veterans engaged in carpentry, for which the Fox Film Corporation provided 35,000 feet of lumber. It appears the structure that housed the relief center on 12th St is still partially extant, but confirmation is needed. - Santa Fe City Administration Building - Santa Fe NMThe building was the city administration building, which included city hall, jail, and the fire department. In 1987, the building was remodeled and the adjacent library was enlarged significantly. That is the present configuration. PWA Project no: N.M. 1035-D.
- Lake Jed Johnson: Dam and Lake - Comanche County OKLocated on Blue Beaver Creek below the Rush Lake dam, Lake Jed Johnson was impounded by this Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)-built dam in the mid-to-late 1930s. CCC camp No. B-F-1 was responsible for the dam's construction, which was underway in 1936 and completed in 1937. The lake and 40-foot dam were dedicated to Jed Johnson on July 31, 1937.
- Fire Station (demolished) - Greenfield MAThe former firehouse in downtown Greenfield, Massachusetts was constructed with federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds. The facility was demolished in 2021 to make room for a new library. Per Short and Stanley-Brown: The city of Greenfield, with a population of 15,500 in 1930, had not only outgrown its old fire headquarters but the location of the old building in the business district had become undesirable due to traffic congestion. - Municipal Building (former) - Britton SDThe former municipal building in Britton, South Dakota, was constructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). WPA Project No. 2450. The building now serves as a social club for seniors.
- Newbegin Hall - Gray MENewbegin Hall in Gray, Maine, named after George W. Newbegin, was constructed as a community gymnasium with the aid of federal work relief funding. The structure is part of a larger town development that includes the town hall and other recreation facilities. Gray, Maine: "Upon his death in 1936, George bequeathed $15,000 to the Town of Gray for the construction of a community gymnasium. Additional funds for the building were received through the 1930s Works Progress Administration program and the Newbegin Gymnasium was completed in 1937."
- Anchorage Museum: Merlin Pollock Artworks - Anchorage AKA set of drawings and watercolors by Merlin Pollock are on display at the Anchorage Museum in Anchorage, Alaska. These were done by Pollock during a six-month spell in 1937 working in Alaska for the Federal Art Project (FAP) of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). He was one of a dozen artists recruited by the FAP to capture the landscapes and cultures of the territory (Alaska only became a state in 1956). They are beautifully displayed and explained in one of the museum's galleries. Pollock went on to teach at Syracuse University.
