• City Hall (former Post Office) Wood Relief (missing) - Opp AL
    The historic former post office building in Opp, Alabama, now Opp's city hall, was home to an example of New Deal artwork: "Opp," a walnut wood relief carved by Hans Mangelsdorf in 1940. Per Jimmy Emerson: Around 1996-97, when the postal service moved to a new building, this piece was given by the Postmaster at the time to the President of the local historical society. When the City wanted to reinstall the artwork in the old PO, now used as City Hall, they were told by the Historical Society President that it had been destroyed.
