• Attucks School Gymnasium - Vinita OK
    This WPA project was described in the National Register of Historic Places Feature for African American History Month in 2012: "A combined elementary, junior high and high school, Attucks School was one of seven such schools that served African Americans in Vinita, Craig County, Oklahoma,  and was the only one that had a secondary school until after racial desegregation in the mid-1950s.   • Craig County Courthouse Annex (former) - Vinita OK
    The WPA constructed this annex to the 1920s Craig County Courthouse in the early 1940s, but it didn't remain connected to the courthouse for long. After WWII, the building housed a candy factory. The rear of the building was destroyed due to an electrical fire in 2012, but the remainder of the building, now privately owned, is still in use.
  • Post Office - Vinita OK
    The historic post office in Vinita, Oklahoma was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which houses New Deal artwork inside, was completed in 1939 and is still in use today.
  • Post Office Murals - Vinita OK
    The post office contains two sets of three murals each by Randall Davey. The murals were painted in 1941 with funding from the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. In these murals, Randall Davey portrayed the history of the Cherokee Nation in a highly sympathetic manner. This tribe, one of the “5 Civilized Tribes” had a troubled history including the forced move to Oklahoma on the “Trail of Tears”.   • Vinita High School Gymnasium - Vinita OK
    The WPA built a brick gymnasium for what was then the Will Rogers High School in 1940. 1985 Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory surveyed the site and gave the following description: " gymnasium is a two level, rectangular shaped (104' x 79') building constructed from buff colored brick. It has a high arched roof with stepped parapets... Brick quoins on the corners, and raised brickwork friezes add decorative relief to the structure... Along with two NYA constructed buildings on the campus of Will Rogers High School, a project of this size constituted a tremendous resource for the community of Vinita."   • White Oak School Gymnasium - Vinita OK
    The WPA constructed this gymnasium for the White Oak School in 1942. A 1985 Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory described the building in detail: "The White Oak gymnasium is a rectangular (100' x 55') addition to a pre-existing school building constructed of brick which has been painted white. The roof is arched with stepped parapets. The main entryway is recessed and framed by pilasters; the latter decorates the side of the gym as well... The school still serves as an economic resource for the community as teachers salaries and workers wages are infused back into the local business community."
