• Cameron Field - Henryetta OK
    An Oklahoma Historical Society document records that: "Unlike many other Oklahoma towns, Henryetta appears to have weathered the Depression reasonably well, in part because of the lingering importance of coal. As a result, Henryetta possesses fewer buildings constructed as Depression-era relief projects. One facility which did result from a 1938 WPA project is Cameron Field, located at South C Street at Jack Gibson Drive." The field is still extant and actively used.
  • Nichols Park - Henryetta OK
    "Nichols Park is a municipal park developed between 1938 and 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the National Park Service (NPS). The park is located two miles south of downtown Henryetta in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma... Beginning in October 1938, the CCC constructed a handful of buildings, as well as a number of smaller resources including culverts, picnic tables, water faucets and fire pits in the park.   • Post Office (former) - Henryetta OK
    The historic post office in Henryetta, Oklahoma was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building was constructed in 1935 but no longer serves its original purpose; the building now serves as Henryetta's Public Library.  
  • Tiger Mountain School (former) - Henryetta OK
    The Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory survey of 1985 describes this WPA school built in 1935-1936 as a "single-story, rectangular (31' x 74') structure constructed of coursed and rusticated native stone of buff color... Building this school provided job opportunities to laborers at a time when jobs were scarce in this rural area. Completion of the school improved educational possibilities within this rural area of McIntosh County." At the time of the report, the building was listed as being in private hands. Satellite images from google maps clearly show that the building is now in ruins and overgrown with trees and other vegetation.
  • West Lawn Cemetery Wall - Henryetta OK
    The rock wall along the south and east sides of the West Lawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Oklahoma were constructed by the WPA in 1939. The wall is approximately 40 inches high with large square rock pillars about every 12 feet. The wall is 3/10 of a mile long. The cemetery is located in the western part of Henryetta.
