• Claremore Armory (demolished) - Claremore OK
    The armory was built by the WPA in 1935: "This armory is a single-story, rectangular...structure constructed of cut, course, and rusticated native stone of buff color. The central portion of the roof is arched, while the remainder of it is flat... As a WPA building this armory is exceptional for its quality of workmanship that reaches the level of artistic expression. It is unique within the city of Claremore in terms of type, materials, style, and most notably workmanship."   (www.okhistory.org) Since its addition to the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory Nomination in 1985, the armory has unfortunately been demolished.
  • Lake Claremore Boathouse - Claremore OK
    This WPA boathouse was built in 1938, and is still standing: "This boathouse is a two-story, rectangular (34' x 68') structure constructed of cut, course, and rusticated native stone. It has a parapet roof... The lower level where boats dock, contains a small room that Claremore policemen once used as a jail. The roof is now made of tin and the doorway has a partial insert of wood attached, but these alterations do not impeach the integrity of the building.     The historic Claremore, Oklahoma post office (later Federal Building) was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building was completed in 1935 and was in disuse as of 2009.
  • Post Office Mural - Claremore OK
    This Section of Fine Arts mural, entitled "Will Rogers," was painted by Randall Davey in 1939. The mural was originally installed in the old (now destroyed) post office in Claremore OK. It has since been restored and is now situated in the Claremore's current main post office.

    This is a one-story building made of cut, coursed and rusticated buff colored native stone, with large fixed-pane windows. At the back, two windows are glass block. The building is rectangular, with a projected front. It stands at the northwest corner of W. Will Rogers Blvd. and J.M. David Blvd. and is addressed 103 J.M. Davis Blvd. A bronze shield on the east side shows "USA 1940 WPA Oklahoma". The main entrance has a single wood door with 9 glass panes.   • Will Rogers Library (former) - Claremore OK
    This is a one-story tan brick building with 6-over-6 double hung windows. The main entrance has four concrete steps leading to double doors, under a flat metal awning. Above the awning is a divided transom. The entrance has a large concrete block surround with a raised pediment. On the surround is engraved "Will Rogers Library". The building is located within Gazebo Park, also constructed by the WPA. A low stone wall surrounds this park and building. On the left front corner of the building are two granite blocks reading: "W.S. Key, Administrator / Morton R. Harrison, Director" and "Works Progress Administration Project...
