A local newspaper reported that, “Sixty Morristown and ten Morris Township men went to work this morning on placing a rock bottom in Burnham Park swimming pool. This was one of two federal-aid projects approved for immediate start here in order to give unemployed work….Forty of the men are at Brookside Reservoir racking up the rock with which the bottom of the pool will be rip-rapped and 30 at Burnham Pool preparing it for the fill. “An additional 75 men will be put to work in Morristown tomorrow, making about 375 who have been given employment under the CWA and other relief projects, it was announced this morning by Town Clerk Nelson S. Butera, Deputy Director of Relief. The men will be put to work at Cauldwell Memorial Playground, fixing up tennis courts, the wading pool and handball court."

Ten federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) workers constructed more than two miles of drainage ditches (and re-dug many old ditches) over a period of six months between 1935 and 1936. The effort was undertaken to combat mosquito infestations in Morristown, New Jersey. "The drainage ditches in the area, bounded by Franklin, ... and Washington avenues, are clearly visible from trains along the Lackawanna." 3,000 man-hours of labor went into the project.

“The WPA renovated and reconditioned sewage disposal plant here was turned over to City officials yesterday afternoon in ceremonies sponsored at the plant site. The project…included the cleaning of two large beds, totaling more than 2 acres. During the past seven months more than 1,250 tons of stone were taken up, cleaned and replaced, and augmented by 500 tons of new filter stone; 250 tons of sand were dug up, and replaced with 2,850 tons, of which 850 tons were furnished by WPA, and 2,000 tons by Morristown.
