• Community House - Eupora MS
    The stone veneer facade, one-story stone and brick Community House was constructed with Work Progress Administration funding in 1938. One room of the Community House was designated for a library in 1966. The first known library in the county was established in the courthouse through the federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Great Depression but was in existence only eight months.
  • Former Eupora High School - Eupora MS
    The original building was built by the WPA between 1938 and 1940. It held 15 classrooms, laboratories, library, and an auditorium. It is currently used as the administration to the Webster County School District. The architect said, "The selection of architectural concrete was made after failure of other materials to satisfy the various requirements considered fundamental to the Eupora project" (Malvaney, 1941, p. 24). No decorative details were included in order to keep within the allocated funds, $110,000, with $40,000 provided by the school district.   • Post Office - Eupora MS
    The post office in Eupora was completed in 1941 with funds provided by the Treasury Department. It is also the site of Thomas Savage's 1945 mural, "Cotton Farm," completed in 1945 with funds provided by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts and viewable in the lobby.
  • Post Office Mural - Eupora MS
    This mural was painted in 1945 by Thomas Savage in the Eupora, MS post office. He was a farmer from Iowa who excelled in painting farm scenes; in later years he would work as a commercial artist. He did three Treasury Section of Fine Arts murals, one in Jefferson, Iowa, one in New Hampton, Iowa and this lesser known one in Eupora. The title is "Cotton Farm".
