• Cecil County Courthouse - Elkton MD
    The groundwork for a new, enlarged courthouse for Cecil County was put in place in 1935, when the General Assembly of Maryland authorized the county to "expend $5,000 for a lot of ground on which to build a new courthouse whenever it was needed," which the county "visualize to be built with the aid of Federal funds".  A site on East Main Street, about 200 yards east of the then-courthouse, was selected for the new building.   • Post Office - Elkton MD
    This post office "in a Federal Revival style of Port Deposit granite blocks" was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds in 1939. The building is still in use today.
  • Post Office Mural - Elkton MD
    Alexander Clayton painted "Arrival of the Post, 1780" (oil on canvas) for the Elkton post office with funding from the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. During renovations in the 1970's, the mural was removed. It was restored but has remained in storage in the basement of the post office. The postmaster is glad to show it off.
