    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) conducted a grounds improvement project at the armory facility in Georgetown, Delaware. Living New Deal believes the current Delaware Army National Guard building is this same facility, though further confirmation is needed of whether the building existed during the 1930s.   • Road Development (Stockley) - Georgetown DE
    Delaware utilized substantial federal resources in developing and improving its road network during the Great Depression. Among the dozens of projects undertaken by the federal Civil Works Administration (C.W.A.) during 1934 was construction from "County Farm to Stockley". Stockley is an unincorporated community name southeast of Georgetown; the exact road in question is unknown to Living New Deal. An average of 1,410 were put to work each week during 1934 as a result of the CWA’s road, sidewalk, bridge, and other related infrastructure efforts in Delaware.  
  • Springfield Road Development - Georgetown DE
    Delaware utilized substantial federal resources in developing and improving its road network during the Great Depression. Among the dozens of projects undertaken by the federal Civil Works Administration (C.W.A.) during 1934 was construction along "Springfield X Rds. to Fairmont." Fairmont is a place name located a few miles east and south of Georgetown. Springfield Road, east of Georgetown, is highlighted on the map here.     The PWA built this cottage at the State Training School, later known as the Stockley Center, which housed the developmentally disabled.
