• Headstart Building - Winslow AZ
    The Winslow Headstart building, originally the Winslow Clubhouse, was built in 1937 by relief workers employed by the Work Progress Administration (WPA).   "The Winslow Clubhouse (now Headstart) is a good example of the Winslow community’s desire for adaptive reuse. The building features many interesting details: hand-carved doors, inset "steer-head" designs in the stone wall, and hand-painted tiles gracing the patio steps... The clubhouse and the stadium were constructed in 1937 and funded by the WPA."
  • Post Office - Winslow AZ
    The Winslow, Arizona post office was constructed with federal funds. The building, which opened for business in 1936, is still in use today.
  • Recreational Center and Municipal Golf Course - Winslow AZ
    The Works Progress Administration built a recreational center that included a club house and a municipal golf course in Winslow, Navajo County. Project #271, completed circa 1936.
  • Vargas Stadium - Winslow AZ
    "Fans still fill the wooden benches of Vargas Stadium to watch baseball games on the community athletic field. The clubhouse and the stadium were constructed in 1937 and funded by the WPA."
  • Williamson Avenue Underpass - Winslow AZ
    The Williamson Avenue underpass beneath the Santa Fe railway line was built with the aid of the Work Progress Administration (WPA), c 1937. "Construction of the Williamson Avenue underpass was a fine example of cooperating agencies (Works Progress Administration, Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, the State of Arizona, and the City of Winslow) to fund and develop an important engineered structure to improve Winslow's traffic flow." The underpass has been repainted in recent years, probably as part of Winslow's effort to attract more tourists.
