  • Fairhope Road Improvements - Fairhope AL
    The Works Progress Administration carried out improvement work on Fairhope Point Clear Road, along Mobile Bay, in the vicinity of Mobile. The work consisted of headwalls, culverts, and road paving. The estimated WPA cost was $92,340.
  • State Armory of Mounted Commands Garage - Providence RI
    The Works Progress Administration built a garage for the State Armory of Mounted Commands in Providence. The location and status of this project is presently unknown to Living New Deal.
  • CCC Camp F-37 - Douglas WI
    The Civilian Conservation Corps built Camp F-37-W, Company 4803, in Douglas, Wyoming in 1936.
  • Star School Building - Star ID
    In 1939, the Public Works Administration funded the construction of a school building in Star, Idaho. Project docket No. Idaho 1083D 3/14/39. The architect of record was Wayland & Fennel. The exact location and present status of the structure is unknown to the Living New Deal.  
  • Pocatello Airport Hangar - Pocatello ID
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built a hangar for the Pocatello Airport in Pocatello, Idaho, in the late 1930s or early 1940s. We do not know if the hangar is still standing. Wikipedia indicates that four hangars are still standing from World War II Army Airfield on the site, but ignores the earlier work by the New Deal.  
  • Water Tank - Melba ID
    The Works Progress Administration built a water tank in Melba, Canyon County.
  • Post Office Mural (missing) - Cloquet MN
    The historic post office in Cloquet, Minnesota housed an example of New Deal artwork: "Lake Superior Shores – Yesterday and Today," an oil-on-canvas painting by Dewey Albinson. The work, completed in 1937, was commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. Unfortunately the post office has been extensively modified during careless renovations, and the artwork is missing.
  • Guamani River Bridge - Guayama PR
    The Public Works Administration built a 30-meter truss bridge over the Guamani River in Guayama, in 1936. Google Street View imagery suggests that the bridge has since been replaced.
  • Chief Shakes Historic Site, Killer Whale Totem - Wrangell AK
    Tlingit craftsmen enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) restored the Killer Whale Totem in 1940. The restoration was part of a larger U.S. Forest Service program focused on the restoration of totems and Native cultural assets. Seven of the poles surrounding the Clan House at the Chief Shakes Historic Site are reproductions of older poles, while two are originals.   • Julia Richman Educational Complex: Knott Mural - New York NY
    In 1936, Ben Knott completed an oil on canvas mural entitled 'Decorative Map of the World' for the fourth floor corridor, East School, of what was then Julia Richman High School, with funding from the Federal Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project (WPA/FAP). The high school building that housed the mural has since been converted into the Julia Richman Education Complex. The building complex now serves as the site of six separate small schools. The Living New Deal needs further information to determine the current status of the mural.
