  • Yutan Activity Center - Yutan NE
    The Yutan Activity Center in Yutan NE was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1939. It was leased to the local school district in 1962 and purchased by the school district for $1 in 1971. In 1995 the school district gave the building back to the city and it was used by the Yuton Youth Activities Assn. until 2011. At that time the building was sold back to the school district.
  • Loara Elementary School - Anaheim, CA
    The New Deal funded the construction of a new Loara Elementary School in Anahiem, CA. Partial funding came from the Public Works Administration (PWA). The original Loara School was demolished and replaced in 1936. You can still visit a school bell which was a part of the original 1888 Loara School building. The school appears to have been rebuilt again in recent years.
  • Hoisington High School Stadium - Hoisington KS
    The Hoisington High School Stadium was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1937 with limestone from the nearby Ney farm. The stadium is still in use and on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • National Maritime Historical Park: Hiler Prismatarium Mural - San Francisco CA
    The oil-on-plaster "Prismatarium" mural at the National Maritime Historical Park visitors center was designed by Hilaire Hiler to give "striking demonstrations on the relationship of color and light." It represents Hiler's fascination with color and his idea that he had found the perfect color palette. It covers the walls and ceiling of a circular room on the west side of the building. Originally, the light fixture revolved.   • Umatilla Bridge #2117 - Pendleton OR
    With Public Works Administration (PWA) funding, the Oregon Highway Department constructed Umatilla Bridge #2117, also known as the Ballpark Bridge, in 1935. Part of Highway #30 in Pendleton when constructed, Oregon's state bridge designer Conde B. McCullough drew art deco and classical design features together for the small structure. More recently, the bridge has been bypassed by the highway system. Now it provides pedestrian access to park and athletic facilities. As described by Sarah Munro, members of the public continue to view the "art deco inspired-pylons, ornate bridge railings, cantilevered sidewalks, and architectural treatment of the substructure."
  • Watkins Park Improvements - Nashville TN
    The Works progress Administration made improvements to Watkins Park in Nashville TN. It is located Across 17th Ave N from the Public Works Administration-funded former Pearl High School.
  • Hoisington High School - Hoisington KS
    The Public Works Administration funded the construction of the Hoisington High School - Hoisington KS, and Art Deco high school built in 1940. The school is still in use. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Hoisington High School was designed by the architecture firm Brinkman & Hagan.
  • Kincaid High School (now Kincaid Community Center) - Kincaid KS
    The Kincaid High School (now Kincaid Community Center) in Kincaid KS was built as a high school with Works Progress Administration bonds. Now used as city hall, public library, museum, and gathering space.
  • George J. Perry Memorial Armory - St. Marys KS
    The Work Projects Administration (WPA) built the George J. Perry Memorial Armory in St. Marys KS between 1941 and 1943. In the early 1940s, plans for a new armory in St. Mary estimated costs at $55,000, most of which would be covered by the WPA. Ground was broken in April 1941, and that first summer construction employed 65 men. With the advent of World War II, however, work slowed and costs rose.   • Municipal Pool and Bathhouse - Alva OK
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built the Municipal Pool and Bathhouse in Alva, OKlahoma. The pool is constructed of poured concrete and the bathhouse has Art Deco elements. The bathhouse is now painted white. It has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
