Corcoran Union High School was constructed in 1939 through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works. The facility has since been expanded with numerous additions into a larger educational campus.

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was involved with four improvement projects at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, CA. Rancho Los Amigos dates to 1888, when indigent patients from the Los Angeles County Hospital were relocated to what was then the County Poor Farm. The campus subsequently evolved into a treatment center for patients with chronic illnesses, including mental illness and diseases such as tuberculosis and polio. According to the community notes of April 25, 1935 Garrat Schenck School “During the vacation the FERA workers finished several very much needed bits of work for the school. A table for library use has been made for grade eight and a splendid cabinet has been constructed for scientific apparatus. Shelves have been placed in grades 3 and 4. Scrap lumber left by FERA workers will be utilized by the manual training department in their next project.”

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built long stretches of sidewalk, as well as curbs, gutters and driveway aprons along 62nd Avenue in East Oakland near Mills College.

The airport is owned by the state of Maine, but managed and operated by the city of Augusta. In the late 1930s, the WPA rebuilt the piers along Emmons Avenue and the pedestrian footbridge spanning Sheepshead Bay. The footbridge connects Emmons Avenue with Shore Boulevard and Manhattan Beach.
