My father and his two brothers left Ohio when they were in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. They road the rails to CA and joined the CCC, sending home $75 apiece each month in order to support their families during the great depression. I am working on a book, and need experiences from members of the CCC to get a better picture of everyday life during their years after joining and the time the war started. My father and my two uncles have passed on, and I need more accurate information. If there are any CCC members out there (especially from CA) willing to write to me and share memories of life in the amazing CCC with me, I would be forever grateful. Thank you so very much. In my opinion, The New Deal was the best deal ever for the USA, and it saved millions of families from certain doom. My dad and his brothers were 3 of 12 siblings. My grandfather was a coal miner in Ohio, after leaving Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their last name was Madden.
