    This marble relief sculpture of an eagle at the front entrance to Norwalk's main post office was created by Gaetano Cecere, a New York artist who studied in Europe and whose work can also be seen in the Post Office Department building in Washington, D.C. (NRHP)

  • Post Office (former) Mural - Batesburg-Leesville SC
    The New Deal mural "Peach Orchard" was created for the then-new Batesburg, South Carolina post office. It was painted in 1941 by Irving A. Block. In the 1980s, the cities of Batesburg & Leesville combined into one city and a new post office was constructed. As of 2013, the old New Deal Batesburg post office had been sold and left vacant by its new owners.

    This oil-on-canvas mural, entitled "Harbor at Rogers City," was painted by James Calder and installed on September 16, 1941. Calder painted three post office murals in Michigan, including "St. Clair River" in St. Clair and "Waiting for the Mail" on the wall of the Grand Ledge Post Office, portraying a farm family anticipating their daily delivery.
  • Possum Kingdom State Park - Caddo TX
    With financing from the Works Progress Administration, the Brazos River Conservation and Reclamation District (now the Brazos River Authority) completed Morris Sheppard Dam in 1941 creating Possum Kingdom Reservoir. The district transferred 6,969 acres of land to the State of Texas for parks around the lake. The original plans by the state included east and west units of Possum Kingdom State Park on opposite shorelines. Designers abandoned the east unit and focused on the west side.   • City Hall - Fairfield AL
    Characterized by its Art Deco architectural style, Fairfield City Hall still serves as the seat of city government.  It was remodeled in the early 1990s, and the only interior touches of its Art Deco architectural style are the decorative arches over the doorways.  This building received funding from both the city of Fairfield and the Works Progress Administration (WPA).  Mayor Claude Gilley proposed the idea to the city council, and the city purchased the land in April 1941.  The city of Fairfield secured WPA funding in June.  E.B.
