    The historic National Guard armory in Hartsville, South Carolina was constructed by the Work Projects Administration from 1939 to 1940. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Stone Wall - Kahului HI
    Relief workers of the federal Work Projects Administration (WPA) constructed a low wall along West Kaahumanu Avenue (then Main Street) in Kahului, Maui in 1939. The wall, which is about 100 yards long, originally formed part of the boundary of a school campus.  It is marked on one end with the initials WPA and 1939.

    The NRHP nomination form describes this courthouse as the "...finest extant example of the Art Deco style within the city of Hope, Arkansas. Its horizontal symmetrical massing, set back rooflines and stylized Art Deco ornamentation are all identifying characteristics of the style that became the dominant architectural idiom for Depression-era public works courthouses throughout the state" (Story, 1994).   • Falls County Courthouse - Marlin TX
    Excerpts from the state historical marker read: "Work began on a fifth Falls County courthouse in 1938. A county bond issue for $130,000 was matched with a 45% Public Works Administration grant in 1938. The cornerstone was leveled by the Grand Lodge of Texas, A. F. & A.   • Point Beach State Forest Improvements - Two Rivers WI
    From the Wisconsin DNR website: "1939: WPA began work on road construction and developing a forest lodge. The lumber came from this forest and shakes came from the Lake Elba prison camp at Rhinelander. Rip-rap came from the Jambo Creek area.   • Waverly Village Hall - Waverly MN
    "The building was constructed in 1940 under the New Deal program known as the Works Progress Administration (WPA), and was used for town dances, church socials, wedding receptions and speeches by political figures such as Hubert Humphrey. The original village hall burned down in the summer of 1938. The WPA received plans for a new building that December.   • Denham Springs City Hall (former) - Denham Springs LA
    Constructed by the WPA in 1939-1940. It was used as the city hall until the 1980s. The building was restored and rededicated in 2008 and now serves as a tourism office.
  • Texas State Highway 95 - Bastrop TX
    The February 9, 1939 issue of the Bastrop Advertiser published a letter from Texas Senator Albert Stone advising Bastrop residents that bids would soon be accepted for the grading and drainage structure for nine miles of Texas State Highway 95 starting eight miles south of Elgin, near Sayersville, to Bastrop. The road had already been improved from Elgin to Sayersville and this would complete the connection to Bastrop. The Works Progress Administration was funding the $109,000 relief project with 30% of the cost expected to be spent on labor.
  • Post Office - Lewistown IL
    The post office in Lewistown, Illinois was constructed between 1939 and 1940 using Treasury Department funds. The building is still in use today.
