    The Carson Community House was constructed as National Youth Administration project 5649 in 1939. It is a two story, brick veneer building, currently in use as a Masonic Lodge. It appears to be essentially unaltered, other than sealing of two upper windows. It retains the external double stairs to access the second floor.
  • Jefferson School - Pauls Valley OK
    Jefferson Elementary school is one of three built by the WPA. Contributor note: "Jefferson Elementary School is located at 500 E. Garvin at the corner of S. Cherry Street. This is a one-story L-shaped school with a flat roof, capped with Spanish tile. Red metal siding has been added to the upper walls, with a shallow gable roof. The windows are three-pane set in singles, doubles and triples. On the west side of the school, there are two brick bay window units with tile roofs.   • Lee School - Pauls Valley OK
    The Lee School is one of three schools built by the Works Progress Administration in Pauls Valley between 1939 and 1940. Contributor Note: "Lee Elementary School is located at 300 W. Bert at the corner of N. Ash Street, and is an active elementary school today. The streets in Pauls Valley run SE-NE/SW/NW. It has an Art Deco theme, which was rare for the architect Albert S. Ross.     The house appropriations committee, Washington, approved treasury and post office building projects including Gladewater in Feb. 1939. Pictured here is a preliminary study of Gladewater's new post office, for which $150,000 was appropriated and on which construction bids already have been received. The one story structure will be of modern construction, brick exterior walls and a pitched Spanish tile roof, will measure 84 feet across the front and extend to a depth of 60 feet.   • Point Richmond Rock Walls - Richmond CA
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built rock retaining walls in Point Richmond, a neighborhood of Richmond CA.   The most notable wall is found at 220 Bishop Avenue and was built in 1940. It is six feet high and runs the length of the property, about 40 feet.  This wall is constructed of finely-cut, multi-colored stone, which the property owner purchased and gave to the WPA workers to use. Another wall on Bishop Alley is from the same time period.  It consists of three levels: dark stone along the base, then solid gray concrete, and finally colored stone set in concrete....
  • Public School - Glen Rose TX
    WPA grant was obtained in 1939 to build a school. Three low-water dams on the Paluxy River, several local school buildings, and a canning plant were built with Work Projects Administration money.
  • Retaining Wall for Mission - San Luis Obispo CA
    Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa was thoroughly restored in the 1930s under the guidance of Father John Hartnett, after a long history of neglect.  A previous rebuild in 1868 had added wooden siding and a wooden tower in New England style.  That was removed in 1934 and the mission was restored to a semblance of its original appearance (uncertain after many transformations).
