What is now the High School of Fashion Industries began in the 1920s as a vocational program in a garment center loft on West 31 Street. It was intended to train a work force for New York's large garment industry, and most early students were first or second generation immigrants. The historic post office in Vinita, Oklahoma was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which houses New Deal artwork inside, was completed in 1939 and is still in use today.

Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollees from the Mt. Elden Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp near Flagstaff worked at Walnut Canyon National Monument from 1938 to 1942. They made several improvements to the monument for public recreational use. New Rockford, North Dakota received a new post office in 1939. The building was constructed with Treasury Department funds; work began in 1938 and the building open for business on October 29, 1939. Still in use today, the post office features a mural titled "Advance Guard of the West," which was installed in 1940.

The post office contains a 4' x 24' 1938 Section of Fine Arts oil-on-canvas mural by Ernest Norling entitled "Northwest Logging." The mural was restored in 1994-95. "Norling completed two Washington State Post Office murals during the New Deal period, one in Bremerton and one in Prosser. He also painted documentary images of the state's CCC camps for the Public Works of Art Project (PWAP).
