The Tumacácori National Monument was set aside by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908 to protect the ruins of the Mission of San Jose de Tumacacori.  In 1918, it came under the administration of the National Park Service and its regional 'custodian', Frank Pinkley.  Congress created the Tumacácori National Historic Park in 1990, adding the ruins of two nearby missions, Los Santos Angeles de Guevavi and San Cayetano de Calabazas. The old Moorefield (Independence County), AR, school building, which now houses the Rehobeth Baptist Church; the original Rehobeth Baptist Church of Moorefield, established in the 1820s, is believed to have been the first church in Independence County.

Members of the Clackamas County Planning Board announced during the summer of 1935 that the fifty-one-year old Courthouse represented a fire hazard as well as no longer being adequate for the county's business. Citing the possibility of obtaining PWA funds for the construction of a new courthouse, they encouraged architects to submit plans for the proposed structure. By the fall, the Planning Board had selected the drawings of Francis Marion Stokes, a well-known Portland architect, requested an outright grant of $90,000 from the Public Works Administration, and proposed a means of raising the county's fifty-five percent contribution to the project....

The Public Works Administration (PWA) helped fund the former Coolidge Union High School, now the school district administration building. Ground was broken on April 4, 1936 and the school opened in 1939.  The project cost of $150,000 was divided between a PWA grant and local bonds. This large and handsome building is a melange of Neoclassical and Southwest Pueblo styles.  It is still probably the largest and the most elegant building in the city of Coolidge.  Ironically, the town, founded in 1925, was named after President Calvin Coolidge; it was not incorporated until 1945. NYA plaque found at entrance of roadside park on TX-6 in Foard County, approximately 3.3 miles south of Crowell. Found a unique octagonal picnic table, a regular picnic table, and rock around garden at base of trees.

Project is Given Approval Fort Worth March 10 Plans and specifications on five PWA projects were approved Tuesday in state PWA offices, and bid opening dates are Knox School, March 30....." "Dr. J.D. Sandefer, president of Hardin-Simmons University, was the principal speaker at the dedication program for the new Knox City grammar school gymnasium and auditorium tonight."

PWA project 1200 for paving in Hernando was for $16,000 loan and $13,090 grant approved 11/17/1936. Construction began 4/5/1937 and was completed 6/10/1937 for a total cost of $29,571. The work included paving the street around the courthouse square and surfacing eight lateral streets in the town. Contract was awarded to Bowyer & Johnson for $25,037.

The former Hazlehurst grammar school was PWA project W1077. The project was approved 9/25/1935 and completed 11/10/1936 for a total cost of $50,004. PWA supplied a $27,500 loan and a $22,457 grant. The school was enlarged in 1947, and currently serves as the high school. Work on clearing the lot began January 1936. Contractor was J. R. Flint and architect was E. L. Malvaney.

McComb's municipal auditorium/city armory/gymnasium on Virginia Avenue served as the armory for Company L, 155th infantry from 1938-1940 (MDAH/Historic Resources Inventory). Constructed by the Work Progress Administration between 1936-1938, the facility was destroyed by fire in 1952. Work on the field house was begun in July 1936, and within a few weeks, the gymnasium and armory components were added. Work was suspended December 1936 when the facility was 30% complete.
