The historic post office in Florence, Colorado was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which bears a standard cornerstone for the era, also houses an example of New Deal artwork. The facility is still in service.
“Constructed in 1936, the building is a particularly well-crafted example of Art Deco-flavored Neo-Classicism. It is the only local example of this motif and is a symbolic legacy of the federal government’s role in aiding communities during the Depression.” (www.historycolorado.org)
