Description
Flushing High School was built in the early 20th century. In 1938, the school received four murals funded by the WPA’s Federal Art Project.

According to the oral history recording of James Penney in the Archives of American Art. This was his first solo project. https://www.aaa.si.edu/download_pdf_transcript/ajax?record_id=edanmdm-AAADCD_oh_212110 Page 25. He also did murals in Missouri and the Lincoln Nebraska state capitol.
