A waterworks construction project in Alcester, South Dakota was undertaken during the Great Depression with the aid of federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds. The PWA supplied a $12,797 loan and $4,576 grant for the project, whose total cost was $17,658. Work occurred between October 1934 and January 1936.
