Description
A plaque at the entrance to Taylor Park reads: “Taylor Park, Developed by the Burgess and Commissioners of Keedysville, In Cooperation with the Work Projects Administration, 1940.”
According to records held at the National Archives, the WPA’s work included “excavating; grading; surfacing; constructing base, walks, drives, paths, play and parking areas, refreshment stand, shelters, tennis and horseshoe courts, and sidewalks; erecting flagpole; installing playground equipment, park lighting system, and sanitary facilities; landscaping; planting trees and shrubs.”
