Description

The federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) developed San Francisco’s St. Joseph’s Avenue during the Great Depression.

Consisted of grading from Turk to Geary Street involving 4,600 cubic yards of earth and rock excavation and removal of 3,000 cubic yards of same a distance of 2 miles.–Healy, p. 47.
