Description
Bennington’s Southshire [Bennington County] courthouse was constructed between 1936 and 1937 as a federal Public Works Administration (PWA) project. It was designed “as a replica of the original Southshire courthouse in Old Bennington that burned in 1869.” The PWA provided a $43,293 grant toward the $97,496 total cost of the project.
