Description
The federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) reconstructed sidewalks and roads in downtown Margaretville, New York in 1939. Catskill Mountain News reported:
Claude Caswell and his WPA workmen have completed the sidewalk job in Margaretville’s business section and a much better looking village has been set up because of their work. No more scraping hub caps along the Main street curbs, wider streets for auto parking, and smoother sidewalks make a great improvement in the most traveled area of the village.
